Taskforce objective:
To deliver a set of detailed and carefully argued proposals for the reform of the Petroleum Taxes Act, the Petroleum Act and other relevant pieces of legislation that guide the Trinidad & Tobago oil, gas and petrochemical sector fiscal regime with the objective of creating an environment that encourages continued investment in the sector and which balances risks and rewards. The proposals should be based on the concept of maximising economic recovery of hydrocarbon resources and maximising overall value retention in country, taking into the account the energy transition and risks associated with peak oil and gas demand. The proposals should be developed through an iterative process of consultation with key stakeholders in Government and industry, so that a wide range of stakeholders’ views have been considered and incorporated before the final report is submitted to the Minister of Finance.
