The Honourable Minister of Energy and Energy Industries and Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister Stuart R. Young M.P along with Ms. Penelope Bradshaw-Niles, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries and Ms. Sandra Fraser, Permanent Secretary (Ag) at the Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries met with Mr. Jeremy Bridglalsingh, Chief Executive Officer and Mr. Derek Hudson, Non-Executive Director of Trinity Exploration and Production.
According to the Ministry, this is in keeping with the Minister’s commitment to meet and engage with energy stakeholders.
At the meeting, Mr. Jeremy Bridglalsingh, Chief Executive Officer, Trinity Exploration and Production gave an update on the company’s activities such as its planned and ongoing drilling campaigns, its economic impact and projected operations. Both parties discussed the uptick in oil and gas prices, optimizing production and globally competing in the hydrocarbon space.
Related to this, Minister Young stated that, “From the government’s perspective, stakeholders must identify where opportunities lie and that it is the private capital and risk that would get it done.” Adding to this, The Honourable Minister also stated that, “In recognizing that we are globally competing at a time of international uncertainty and we have the human resources and capacity to get it done, it is better to get the resources out of the ground.” Minister Young reiterated that a key imperative of Trinidad and Tobago’s transition strategy is that our citizens continue to benefit from economic returns from our natural energy resources as we scale the incorporation of sustainable sources into our energy mix. In this regard, the government will continue to engage all upstream stakeholders for the exploitation, in the shortest time frame, all sanctioned and unsanctioned projects and prospective resources in the country.
